Antique Stocking
I bought a pair of antique stockings at an antique store last week for $4.50. They're my favorite stockings for hanging on the mantle(if I did-which I don't because we have a wood burning stove and my husband won't let me)-but sometimes I hang them on the stairway banister. I have a collection of them(started when I was decorating the Rutherford House) because that is what they used to use in the 1800's-their own socks-and they sometimes would hang them on the end of their bed. I like to add things that they might have been given-this is a ladies stocking-so I've added a book titled The Secret to a Happy Life, a gold fold-up hair comb, a rhinestone hair comb, a round sequined hair pin, antique talcom powder and a silver clothing brush. It's fun to find things to put in them-you'll be seeing the entire collection on Sunday at the Second Hand Collection Party on Tete's Beyond the Garden Gate's Blog. I'm linking up with Faded Charm for White Wednesday at http://fadedcharmcottage.blogspot.com
